Welcome message from the president

 Dear Colleagues,

It is with great optimism that I welcome 2019 and myriad new opportunities for IABS.   2018 was a very good year for our organization and 2019 is looking even better!

On January 22, 2019, the new IABS Board of Directors met and reviewed organizational operations.  A few highlights from the meeting are listed below.

All four IABS Scientific Committees have been active and a very busy slate of meetings and workshops is confirmed for this year.  Several possibilities for 2020 are already in early planning stages too.  As the meeting planning progresses, registration information and meeting details will be posted to the IABS website and sent to our collaborators and interested parties.

The Board has approved the hiring of an Executive Director starting later this year.  A formal announcement is pending; and I will be pleased to share additional information in the near future.

The primary purpose if this message is to announce the appointment of Dr. Maria Baca-Estrada to fill the vacant Board position.  Dr. Baca-Estrada currently serves as Health Canada’s Manager of the Bacterial and Combination Vaccines Division and is actively involved in international collaborations with many organizations.  Her full biosketch is located on the IABS Website at https://iabs.org/index.php/documents/biosketchs

Dr. Baca-Estrada will be tremendous asset to the IABS Board of Directors and I look forward to working with her.  Please join me in welcoming her to the IABS Board!

Best regards,

Joris Vandeputte, DVM
